Dr. Jim Montgomery is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery and vision correction surgery. By employing state-of-the art technology, Dr. Montgomery is able to fully customize cataract surgery to meet each patient’s unique vision needs and lifestyle. Dr. Montgomery also relies on his extensive surgical training and technical expertise to perform refractive procedures such as LASIK, PRK, and EVO ICL™ to assist patients seeking to reduce their dependence on glasses and contact lenses. In addition to this, Dr. Montgomery is a specialist in preserving patients’ sight by performing minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), macular degeneration management and treatment, diabetic eye care, and the diagnosis and treatment of complex eye diseases.

Education
Dr. Montgomery graduated summa cum laude from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Philosophy and Chemistry. He went on to receive his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Montgomery then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas before returning to UT Southwestern Medical Center to complete his residency in Ophthalmology.
Professional Experience
Dr. Montgomery opened his private practice after moving to Colorado in 2001, and since then has earned a reputation as one of the most respected eye surgeons in the state. He holds appointments as the medical director of the 20/20 Institute in Denver, the Eye Surgery Center of Colorado, and of the Ophthalmology Department at PIMA Medical Institute in Denver.
In His Free Time…
When out of the office, Dr. Montgomery enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His favorite activities include reading, spending time on Lake Ouachita and Grace Bay Beach, and walking in the beautiful mountains and plains of Colorado.
Dr. Montgomery has a personal commitment to his patients and understands the depth in the challenge of committing to eye surgery and finding the right eye surgeon. He also has made the personal decision to have LASIK performed on both of his eyes.
